How to use the Fossil Smartwatches App

Spread the love

Prior to Wear OS 3, the Fossil smartwatch app was only available for the company’s hybrid smartwatches. Now that Wear OS 3 is out, the app is also accessible on full smartwatches. You can modify watch settings, swap watch faces or tiles, find the device, and even connect to Google Fit using the Fossil Smartwatches app

Additionally, the app shows all of the fitness and health metrics from your Fossil smartwatch, making them easy to comprehend and view. However, it’s not exactly a robust experience, and the UI and navigation of the app can occasionally be puzzling or even imprecise.

Thankfully, we have enough experience using it with gadgets like the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition to guide you through some of the key features of the app. However, bear in mind that the app only functions with touchscreen or hybrid smartwatches from Fossil that have been updated to Wear OS 3.

Owners of Skagen Falster Gen 6 should be able to follow these instructions because the Skagen Smartwatches app is essentially the same.

Setting up a Wear OS smartwatch with the Fossil smartwatches app

  1. Open the Fossil Smartwatches app after downloading it, then log in.
  2. If you have a Wear OS 3 smartwatch, choose “Touchscreen”.
  3. Accept Google’s Terms of service.
  4. Once it appears on the menu, pair the watch with Bluetooth. Ensure that the watch is on.
  5. Copy the Google Accounts to the watch once it has connected.
  6. The Fossil Wellness app’s tracking features, screen lock, and Alexa assistant can all be configured by following the provided instructions.

After configuring the watch, you’ll have access to a wide range of features and operations. You can tap the fitness metrics that are always displayed on the home screen to get more information about your activities, sleep, steps, and other metrics.

Change your watch face and tiles

  1. On the app’s home screen, tap the smartwatch icon in the center.
  2. Swipe up to select the app tiles you want to include.
  3. Once you’re finished, tap and hold a tile to select it, then drag it to the desired location on your watch. Using the trash can icon, you can also remove the ones you don’t want.
  4. To switch the watch face, swipe over to the “My Face” section.
  5. Swipe up to select from the options.
  6. You can alter the watch face’s appearance after choosing it by changing the colors and complications.

On Wear OS, changing tiles and watch faces is fairly simple, and the app offers a variety of watch faces for you to pick from.

Your ability to customize is somewhat constrained if you’re using a hybrid smartwatch because you won’t be able to alter any of the color options. To customize the watch to better reflect your personal style, you can upload an image from your phone’s gallery.

Adjust your watch settings

  1. On the app’s home screen, tap the smartwatch icon in the center.
  2. In the top right corner of the app, tap the settings cog. For quicker access, you can also choose “My Preferences” from the main page’s carousel.

The majority of your smartwatch’s settings can be changed here rather than on the watch itself. Moving back and forth between the individual Wear OS menus might prove to be slower than doing this.

Connect the Fossil Smartwatches app to Google Fit

    1. Tap the hamburger menu in the top left corner.
    2. Select “Wellness” in the side navigation menu.
  • Tap “Connected apps.”
  1. To connect the apps and sync your health and fitness data, visit “Google Fit”.

Fossil made it possible to sync your health data using the Fossil Smartwatches app because Google Fit had not been updated to support Wear Health Services by the time the Wear OS 3 update went live. You can make sure you don’t skip any workouts in this way.

Take a screenshot of your Fossil smartwatch

  1. To access your watch’s settings, follow the directions above.
  2. Scroll down and tap “System.”
  3. When the share panel appears, choose “Request Wear OS screen shot” and then choose the person or method you want to use.

Fossil is still using the outdated Wear OS 2 method for screenshots, in contrast to Samsung smartwatches like the Galaxy Watch 5, which employ the well-known two-button press taken from Android phones. Because of this, you can only carry them out from the companion app, which is a fairly challenging process.

Even though it’s not always the intended outcome, you will be immediately prompted to send the screenshot so that you can upload it to websites like Google Photos.

Use the Fossil Smartwatches app to locate your watch

  1. Tap the watch icon in the top right corner.
  2. Swipe up and select “Find my watch.”
  3. Ensure “Locate on map” is toggled on.

With the help of the GPS in Fossil’s Wear OS 3 watches, you can determine where the watch was most recently. As an alternative, you can find your Fossil smartwatch using the Find My Device app from Google.

How to switch watches

  1. On the homepage, tap the watch icon in the top right.
  2. Swipe over to the Fossil smartwatch you want to use if you have more than one.
  3. Tap “Make Active” and wait for the app to set it up.

The Fossil Smartwatches app is used by many different brands that are part of the Fossil Group. If you own several Fossil smartwatches, including the hybrid models, the app makes switching between them fairly simple. Just be aware that only one watch can be “active”—that is, that it can sync with the Fossil Smartwatches app—at any given time.

How to unpair and reset your watch

  1. On the homepage, tap the watch icon in the top right.
  2. Swipe up until you find “Unpair & Reset.” Tap it.
  3. Verify your choice, then wait while the app resets your watch.

Your smartwatch may occasionally experience issues, or you may simply need to pair it with a new smartphone. Unfortunately, this necessitates unpairing the watch from the current phone and resetting it for Wear OS users. The watch will be “wiped” after you do this, and you’ll have to start the setup process over from scratch.
